Aquablation - BPH Relief
Aquablation Therapy for BPH
Aquablation therapy is an innovative, minimally invasive surgical treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). As a leader in this field, I’m proud to bring this cutting-edge technology to Utah, building on my experience of having started the most robust Aquablation program in the western U.S. in 2021 (Arrowhead Hospital, Glendale, AZ).
Having performed over 200 Aquablation procedures, I’ve seen firsthand how this therapy transforms the lives of men suffering from the challenges of an enlarged prostate. Aquablation offers effective, long-lasting relief without compromising sexual function, recovery time, or overall quality of life.
Why Aquablation Therapy Stands Out
Aquablation therapy is a breakthrough in BPH treatment, offering a unique, minimally invasive approach. Using a robotic-assisted system, this procedure employs a high-velocity, heat-free water jet guided by real-time imaging to precisely remove excess prostate tissue. This innovative method eliminates the compromises often associated with other treatments, such as risks to continence and sexual function.
Why Choose Aquablation Therapy?
Choosing a treatment for BPH can feel overwhelming, especially with concerns about side effects like sexual dysfunction or prolonged recovery times. Many traditional treatments force men to compromise on one or more aspects of their well-being. Aquablation therapy eliminates those compromises by offering:
-
Precision and Personalization: The procedure is guided by real-time ultrasound, allowing tailored treatment to each patient’s unique anatomy. A robotic-assisted waterjet targets and removes excess prostate tissue with unmatched accuracy.
-
Safety: Heat-free technology reduces the risk of side effects like erectile or ejaculatory dysfunction.
-
Faster Recovery: Many patients experience significant symptom relief with shorter recovery times compared to traditional surgical methods.
-
Long-Term Relief: Proven to provide consistent and predictable results for prostates of all sizes. Clinical studies show that men treated with Aquablation therapy experience low rates of complications, with most preserving full sexual function and achieving lasting relief from BPH symptoms.
How Does Aquablation Therapy Work?
Aquablation is a robotic-assisted, heat-free surgical procedure performed under anesthesia in a hospital setting. It typically takes less than an hour, and most patients stay in the hospital overnight. The procedure involves two key steps:
Step 1: Customized Surgical Mapping
Every prostate is unique in size and shape. Aquablation therapy uses a combination of ultrasound imaging and a standard camera (cystoscope) to provide a detailed, real-time view of your prostate. This enables me to create a customized surgical map that targets only the tissue causing your symptoms, while avoiding areas critical for preserving sexual and urinary function.
Step 2: Robotic Tissue Removal
Using the surgical map as a guide, a robotically-controlled, heat-free waterjet precisely removes the outlined tissue. This robotic precision ensures consistent, predictable results while minimizing human error. In some cases, a small amount of cautery may be used to control bleeding.
What Sets Aquablation Apart?
In clinical trials, Aquablation therapy has demonstrated remarkable outcomes:
-
Preserved Ejaculatory Function: Nearly all patients maintain normal ejaculatory function.
-
No Impact on Sexual Function: 0% impact on erectile function, orgasmic function, sexual desire, or overall sexual satisfaction.
-
High Satisfaction Rates: 94% of men would consider Aquablation if recommended by their doctor.
